Vera Kessler is taking a Master’s degree in Business Management at the Faculty of Economics of the Hochschule Niederrhein. After completing her studies, she would like to stay in this region.
Why did you choose to study at the Hochschule Niederrhein?
Hochschule Niederrhein is highly valued in the region and not only offers a major in procurement and logistics, but also in international management. Due to the increasing diversification of products and ever-expanding trading areas, extensive knowledge of both subjects is required.
What do you like most about the Hochschule Niederrhein?
I consider it a great advantage that the university is relatively small, as a result of which the lines of communication with lecturers and staff are short. The preparation for professional life is practice oriented. Professional discussions are appreciated and encouraged, as there are only a limited number of students. There are many partnerships between the university and companies, especially in the field of procurement and logistics. I also like the modern and educational atmosphere in the library.
Are you planning to stay in the region after graduation?
Yes, the career opportunities in procurement and logistics are excellent, diverse and will become increasingly important in the future. The region is home to many manufacturing companies whose products are used worldwide (Robert Bosch, AFL, Nexans, SMS Group) as well as logistics and distribution centres.
Why do you think the region is attractive for students and graduates?
Due to its strategically favourable location, students and graduates benefit from a wide range of vacancies. Even outside the region, for example in surrounding cities such as Düsseldorf, Aachen and also in the Netherlands. Moreover, the proximity of cultural institutions in the surrounding cities (Düsseldorf, Cologne, Aachen) is very attractive.
