From a small village in the Czech Republic, through a study in Venlo, looking for an adventure in Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay. Fontys student Anna Vackova (21) proves that with a study in Venlo, the world is at your feet.
The perfect city
In the last year of high school, I knew I wanted to study Business and Management abroad. The only question was where I would do that. The choice for the Netherlands was quickly made because it is such an open minded country, with nice and sober people. Then I chose Venlo because the study appealed to me the most and because it is not such a big city.I myself come from a small village, so this is perfect for me. My only doubt was about the Dutch cuisine, but since then I’ve become a huge fan of “kroketten en bitterballen”! My life in Venlo is awesome! Beers and french fries at the Locomotief, every day to school by bike and lots and lots of fun and positive people around me. The style of teaching is really appealing, the teachers are open and helpful and you can always go to them with all your questions.
Adventure in Uruguay
And now I have a semester in Montevideo. Fontys has partner universities all over the world, so I could actually go anywhere. It’s a great experience, totally different than I expected. It is a beautiful country and the Uruguayans are very relaxed and calm, which you do not expect from South Americans. It is a very nice experience and a wonderful adventure.
