“Thanks to euregio campus I have found an interesting internship”
18-12-2020
Kevin Kram is in the fifth semester of International Business at Fontys University of Applied Sciences in Venlo. He found an internship at hundert24 GmbH through a euregio campus Matchmaking event.
Hundert24 GmbH is the organiser of the largest long-distance walking series in Europe, called Megamarsch, with walking distances of 50 km or 100 km.
How did you experience euregio campus-Matchmaking?
I was intensively looking for an internship and had already written about 25 letters of application. However, it was very difficult to find an internship; on the one hand because I did not have that much experience, on the other hand because of the pandemic.
When I received an invitation from Fontys for the euregio campus-Matchmaking event, I was very curious. I informed myself about the four participating companies well beforehand. Two of the four companies immediately appealed to me, including hundert24GmbH, which organises the Megamarsch. During matchmaking, the companies presented themselves and I immediately received answers to my questions in the chat. After the matchmaking, I applied immediately and was then invited for an online interview. Two weeks later, I was hired and very happy!
What was your job during the internship at Hundert24GmbH?
At hundert24GmbH, I had tasks in the field of online marketing and event management. In the field of event management, I was able to help with the planning of individual events. Together with two other trainees, I developed an online streaming event, which did not yet exist in the company. Since hundert24GmbH is a very young company with horizontal hierarchies, everyone can fully develop their creative potential.
When it comes to online marketing, I did a lot for Instagram and Facebook. This included making analyses and taking care of customer service. I also made a lot of videos and edited footage. In addition, I acquired influencers who promoted the various events for us.
How are the Megamarsch events taking place in corona time?
Hundert24GmbH has developed very good concepts for Megamarsch. Because it is an outdoor event, the safety measures can be easily handled. The participants spread out automatically. The Megamarsch events in Monchengladbach in August and in Frankfurt in October were able to continue as usual. Alternative event concepts have also been developed. Hundert24GMBH offers virtual events where participants can find their own itinerary. They get a starter pack with everything they need for a good Megamarsch. When the participants prove that they have covered the 100 km via the data from their navigation system and through photos, they receive the medal and the certificate.
Are these events well attended despite corona?
The turnout at the physical events was a little behind on the usual numbers of participants. But we have a very loyal group of fans attending every Megamarsch. People are very happy that we offer the virtual events as an alternative.
Where are you at with your studies at Fontys?
I am studying International Business and am currently in my fifth semester. The first four semesters were theoretical studies at the university of applied sciences. The fifth and sixth semesters are practical semesters, in which an internship and a semester abroad are planned. Next year, I will study in the US.
Why did you choose to study at Fontys?
That is a funny story. I am originally from Bad Neuenahr Ahrweiler, near Bonn, and I spent a year in Australia through AIFS after graduating from high school. On my last day in Sydney, I had a final conversation with an AIFS employee. When I told her that I wanted to study International Business, she immediately told me I had to go to Fontys Venlo. I had never heard of Fontys, but she told me that the education there was very good. I then got informed about Fontys Venlo and decided to actually study there.
